(Remarks: For the benchmark test - IELTS (Academic Module) or TOEIC, only band score of reading and writing of the student will be reviewed for CEF reimbursement regardless of one's hearing status.)

Entry Requirements / 入学要求:

(1) Applicants should have completed Form 3 or obtained equivalent qualifications (e.g. Grade 9 in the US Education system); (2) Mature applicants at the age of 21 or above who do not meet the above minimum admission requirements but possess a demonstrated ability (e.g. good presentation skills and communication ability in Hong Kong Sign Language, Chinese and English) to pursue the programme are eligible to apply for admission. (3) Applicants are required to attend a Hong Kong Sign Language proficiency test, a written test in Chinese and English and a face-to-face interview. Admissions will be subject to the decision of the selection committee.

Course Outline / 课程大纲:

(1) Module 1: Introduction to English (44 hours + 6 hours of Assessment) (2) Module 2: English Foundations I (30 hours + 5 hours of Assessment) (3) Module 3: English Foundations II (30 hours + 5 hours of Assessment)

Instructors' Qualifications / 导师资历:

The instructor shall obtain a bachelor's degree or above with two years’ experience or above in teaching related subjects (e.g. English).

Assessment / 课程评核要求:

(A) Assessment Items and Their Weightings: (1) All modules: (i) Continuous assessment [Assignment (45%); Class participation (10%)]; (ii) Test/Exam (45%) (B) Completion Requirements and CEF Reimbursement Requirements: (1) meet the 70% attendance requirement of each module; and (2) pass the assessment of each module. The passing mark is 50%.
