Mr FUNG Kwok-tung

President of The Contemporary A Cappella Society of Hong Kong and Macau; and Partner of Whole Note Music
Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowships for Overseas Studies 1996/97

Mr FUNG Kwok-tung I am always thankful to the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund for supporting my graduate studies in the United States.  As a student from family with limited financial resources, I would probably lose this opportunity as well as the knowledge and experience that came with it in the absence of the generous support of the Fund.

Fully engaged with my work, I was not able to participate actively in activities and events of the Fund.  In 2012, nevertheless, I was introduced by staff of the Fund to a few members of the Sir Edward Youde Scholars Association, with whom I formed an a cappella group and performed in the 25th Anniversary awards presentation ceremony cum concert that year.  Besides, at the dinner party, I met Lady Youde again!  I was delighted to see that she was actively participating in charity work and was deeply respected by all attendants!

New friends whom I made through these events came from different academic areas.  This reminds me that the Fund indeed has supported a very wide range of studies in various disciplines.  For this, as a young music student, I was amply rewarded in the 90s at which time the society was flourishing in the business development.

While the world is ever changing, I strongly believe that the Fund will continue to shine and bring maximum value to the outstanding Hong Kong's young scholars as before.
