Overview

The Student Finance Office administers various financial assistance schemes for needy primary and secondary students, including the School Textbook Assistance (TA) Scheme, the Student Travel Subsidy Scheme and the Subsidy Scheme for Internet Access Charges (SIA). Notification of Results

  • After completing the eligibility assessment, Student Finance Office (SFO) will issue notification of result to applicants starting from around August 2023.

Payment Arrangements
Note: The latest batch payment of student financial assistance for the 2023/24 school year will be credited to the bank account provided by eligible applicants by auto-pay during the period of 26 March to 28 March 2024. The legends “TA” (for School Textbook Assistance), “SIA” (for Subsidy for Internet Access Charges) or “STS” (for Student Travel Subsidy) will normally be shown in the bank passbook or bank statement to indicate the transactions.

  • The SFO will release the financial assistance by autopay to those students who are confirmed to be eligible for the Schemes applied. Applicants may enquire about the payment date from the schools their children are attending or check their bank transaction record to ascertain whether they have received the assistance.

  • Provisional TA and SIA will normally be disbursed in July / August 2023 to applicants for the 2023/24 school year who have successfully applied for textbook assistance in the 2022/23 school year and have submitted the household application together with all necessary information with supporting documents on or before 31 May 2023, met the eligibility criteria and passed the means test.

  • After confirming those students who are eligible for the Schemes applied, first-time applicants will normally be disbursed with TA and SIA from late October / November 2023. Student Travel Subsidy payment will also be normally arranged from late October / November 2023 to eligible applicants.
