How many levels of reimbursement of tuition fees paid are there for eligible Financial Assistance Scheme for Designated Evening Adult Education Courses (FAEAEC) students?
Students of FAEAEC are eligible for 30%, 50% or 100% reimbursement of the tuition fees paid after each school term in two instalments, subject to their meeting of the prescribed criteria.
If I am under 17 years old when I start my evening adult education course in September, can I get the tuition fee reimbursement?
Students must be aged 17 or above to be eligible for fee reimbursement. Thus, the tuition fees paid before they are 17 years old cannot be reimbursed. As fee reimbursement is considered separately for each of the two school terms, if students meet all the reimbursement criteria in a school term, they can still be reimbursed the tuition fees paid for that particular school term according to the respective level of assistance. In addition, students should note that their attendance when they are under 17 years old would not be considered when calculating the attendance for fee reimbursement. The amount of tuition fee to be reimbursed will also be counted according to the date the student reaches 17 years old.
My family is in receipt of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) from the Social Welfare Department (SWD) for the time being. Shall I apply for tuition fee reimbursement under FAEAEC from the SWD?
Tuition fee reimbursement will be made by the Student Finance Office to those eligible applicants (including those students from families in receipt of CSSA). Therefore, SWD would not grant any form of tuition fee subsidy to FAEAEC students, but might provide other forms of assistances other than tuition fee. Please contact SWD for more information.
I enrolled in a designated evening adult education course in the first term of the 2023/24 school year, but I changed to study in another designated centre / another course. Can I get the reimbursement for the tuition fees paid for both courses?
Students need to inform the previous centre of the change. The current centre would then get the relevant information from the previous centre (e.g. amount of tuition fees paid and attendance). Both the previous and current records will be considered when calculating the students’ attendance in determining his / her eligibility at the end of each school term. If students meet the prescribed criteria, the Student Finance Office will reimburse the tuition fees paid according to the level of assistance.
I was reimbursed the tuition fees paid in a designated evening adult education course only for the first school term last year. If I retake the same course this year, can I get the tuition fee reimbursement?
In general, students cannot receive financial assistance for repeating the same level of study under the scheme. In this case, as tuition fee reimbursement was made to the student in the first term last year, no tuition fee reimbursement will be made for the first term this year for retaking the same course. However, if students meet the reimbursement criteria in the second term, they can still be reimbursed the tuition fees paid for that school term.
