Overview

The Student Finance Office administers two financial assistance schemes for needy pre-primary students, including the Kindergarten and Child Care Centre Fee Remission Scheme (KCFRS) and the Grant for School-related Expenses for Kindergarten (Grant-KG). Please click here for details of the schemes.

Result & Payment Arrangements

Notification of Results

  • The Student Finance Office (SFO) will inform the applicants and the kindergartens / child care centres concerned the outcome of their applications in writing.

  • In general, if the information provided is complete, continuing applicants will be notified of the result for the application for the 2023/24 school year from around August 2023 or in about two months from receipt of application by the SFO (whichever is later); and other applicants (including new applicants) will be notified of the result for the application for the 2023/24 school year from around September 2023 or in about two months from receipt of application by the SFO (whichever is later).


Payment Arrangements
KCFRS

  • The SFO will arrange disbursement of fee remission for the 2023/24 school year to the successful applicants through the schools concerned in batches starting from end September 2023 at the earliest.

  • The approved amount of fee remission will be paid to the kindergartens / child care centres concerned directly by the Treasury in about 10 working days after the issue of notification of result with the fee remission amount. Payment to applicants will then be arranged by the kindergartens / child care centres.

Grant-KG

Note: The latest batch payment of Grant for School-related Expenses for Kindergarten Students (Grant-KG) for the 2023/24 school year will be credited to the bank account provided by eligible applicants by auto-pay during the period of 26 March to 28 March 2024. The legend “GRANT-KG” will normally be shown in the bank passbook or bank statement to indicate the transaction.

  • The SFO will release the grant for the 2023/24 school year by autopay to those students who are confirmed to be eligible for the Scheme applied starting from end September 2023 at the earliest. Applicants may check their bank transaction record to ascertain whether they have received the assistance.
