Overview

The Student Finance Office administers various financial assistance schemes for needy primary and secondary students, including the School Textbook Assistance (TA) Scheme, the Student Travel Subsidy Scheme and the Subsidy Scheme for Internet Access Charges (SIA). Amount of Financial Assistance

School Textbook Assistance (TA)
  • Since the TA grant rates for the 2026/27 school year are still under review, the Student Finance Office (SFO) will disburse a provisional TA grant to eligible students in July / August 2026, calculated based on the 2025/26 school year rates.  Once the 2026/27 TA grant rates are confirmed (expected in late October / November 2026), the SFO will review and adjust the grant amounts for eligible students based on the updated rates. Below are the provisional TA grant rates for the 2026/27 school year, by class levels :

Student Travel Subsidy
  • The subsidy is calculated on the basis of the average unit fare relevant to the districts in which the student studies and resides during term-time.


Subsidy for Internet Access Charges (SIA)
  • Full rate of subsidy for SIA in the 2026/27 school year is $1,700 per household while the half rate is $850 per household.
