Special Support for Ethnic Minorities
- Apart from English and Chinese leaflets, Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi, Nepali, Tagalog , Thai and Urdu leaflets are also available to assist ethnic minorities to apply for Household Application for Student Financial Assistance Schemes(at pre-primary to secondary levels).
- With effect from the 2017/18 school year, the Student Finance Office (SFO) of Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency will provide a “Grant for School-related Expenses for Kindergarten Students”(Grant-KG) to eligible kindergarten (KG) students to defray school-related expenses incurred from the students’ KG education.
- The Home Affairs Department (HAD) has sponsored the
Centre for Harmony and Enhancement of Ethnic Minority Residents (CHEER) to provide accessible interpretation and translation services to ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. Translation and interpretation services in English and seven ethnic minority languages / dialects including Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi, Nepali, Punjabi, Tagalog, Thai and Urdu are provided under five categories of services (Telephone Interpretation Service, On-site (Escort) Interpretation Service, Simultaneous Interpretation Services, Translation Service and On-sight Interpretation Service).
